Laser tattoo removal is an increasingly popular treatment in the UK. Laser tattoo removal is the process of using a laser to break up ink particles over time which will eventually remove your tattoo.
Traditional Laser Tattoo Removal
The traditional method of laser tattoo removal is known as ‘Q Switch laser removal’. This is where the laser reacts with the ink pigments in the skin and breaks them down. With this method of laser tattoo removal, you would have to attend various sittings until your tattoo is removed. There is also a chance that your tattoo will stop responding to the treatment.
PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal
At ProSkin we offer both Q Switch laser removal and PicoSure laser tattoo removal, which works in the same way as the traditional method, however it’s 3-4x faster and able to treat darker, multi-coloured and complex tattoos more efficiently.
PicoSure tattoo removal can also remove tattoos that have stopped responding to Q-switched laser tattoo removal.
How is PicoSure Laser Technology different?
PicoSure is an aesthetic laser that uses picoseconds technology. Ultra-short pulse bursts of energy are delivered to the skin in just trillionths of a second, this is 100 times shorter than the technology used with traditional Q-switched laser systems.
Traditional lasers rely predominately on photothermal (heat) action delivered to the pigment of the tattoo and the surrounding tissue. In contrast, the ultra-short pulses of energy of Picosure create an intense photomechanical effect that shatters the target ink into tiny particles that are easily eliminated by the body. Q-switched lasers are unable to break down ink particles to small enough particles; therefore more sessions are required.
How is PicoSure Laser Treatment different?
We use PicoSure lasers as they offer the fastest laser tattoo removal in the world. Not only are they the fastest, meaning you need less treatments, but also offer significantly better clearance and can even treat tattoos that have stopped responding to other laser treatments.
At ProSkin we also have a RevLite machine; which is based on the traditional Q Switched technology. The RevLite machine can remove orange, red and yellow ink tones more effectively.
With the option of both laser tattoo removal methods we are able to present all of our clients with the best removal process possible.
PicoSure tattoo removal is currently available at our Liverpool Street, Bond Street, Shepherds Bush, Harley Street, Esher, Bluewater and Newcastle City Centre clinics.
