Laser treatments have become very popular over the past few years. The two popular laser treatments that ProSkin offer are; laser hair removal and laser tattoo removal - with the use of a laser you can remove unwanted body hair, as well as the ink of a tattoo you no longer want.
With the increasing popularity of the two treatments, we wanted to let you know some precautions you should take before undergoing laser treatment.
Avoid tanning
Tanning can have an impact on the effectiveness of laser hair removal and tattoo removal. Tanning should be avoided 4-6 weeks prior to the treatment (including self-tanning sprays and creams.) The removal process will be less effective, which will result in you needing more sessions to remove your tattoo.
Wash the area being treated
On the day of your treatment, ensure the area you are having treated is free of any make-up, moisturizer, lotions and deodorant. In order to achieve the best results you are advised to wash the area being treated and remove any kind of oil which may be on the skin, as this could lead to the treatment not being as successful.
Having a patch test
You will be required to have a patch test at ProSkin before laser hair removal and laser tattoo removal if; you are a new client, are having a new treatment, have been on holiday, or are currently on medication or using topical creams that can cause a photosensitive reaction. The patch test will insure you are suitable for the treatment and that you will be able to see a result.
Avoid at home hair removal
This one is aimed at Laser hair removal; avoid plucking, waxing or bleaching hair three weeks prior to treatment. Preserving the root and pigment of the hair is important for a successful treatment. If you do remove the hair, it may not start the re-growth phase in time and the laser will have nothing to aim for.
