Hyper pigmentation and skin lightening

Hyperpigmentation is a concentrated and normally localised area of increased pigment to the skin compared to its natural colour. This is most often caused by sun exposure but can also be a result of hormonal changes or post inflammation. It is usually harmless and quite frequently seen on areas of skin that are often exposed to UV and the elements such as hands, face and décolleté. These area of skin that are darker in colour than the natural colour of the skin can also be referred to age, liver or sun spots.

Types of pigmentation:

• Freckles - Small brown spots or specs that can appear anywhere on the body or face. Freckles are an inherited characteristic and are triggered by sun exposure.
• Sun /Age spots - Small darkened patches or splodges on the face, hands or other over exposed areas on the body from frequent sun exposure.
• Melasma/Chloasma - This condition can be similar in appearance to the Sun/Age spots but the area the pigmentation covers is normally larger and results from hormonal changes.
• Post-inflammatory pigmentation - Skin conditions such as acne can leave darker areas after the skin condition has gone away, this is due to a over production of melanin during the skin undergoing irritation, inflammation and healing. Cuts, open wounds or surgery can also leave this type of pigmentation.

• Effective and fast results for sun/age spots or freckles, 3 treatments minimum once a month.
• Tailored to each client, we can also recommend a series of skin peels or microdermabrasion for pigmentation concerns. These will exfoliate discoloured epidermal skin cells while allowing our non bleach and anti toxic lightning agents and products to decrease pigmentation in the skin. SPF must be worn prior, during and after treatment to maintain results.
