1 The barbed wire

This tattoo was famously very popular around the 90s, and even Pamela Anderson had this tattooed around her left bicep – although she later got it removed for obvious reasons. However, this didn’t stop many others from copying her.

The armband did hold a certain sex appeal for a while, especially back in its heyday, but its appeal is pretty much long gone now.

2 A mythical creature

Many of us will go through the stage of wanting to emblazen ourselves with a favourite animal while we’re young and carefree. A lion to show how courageous and brave we are, or a dolphin to show we’re intelligent. Maybe even a bird to show we’re young and wild and free.

3 A Chinese symbol

Everybody seems to have one of these tattoos, and it’s usually the Chinese character that represents peace, compassion, or strength.

4 Any kind of face tattoo

5 Your ex’s name
